Both the UK and Malta’s Governments are Silence on Migrant Crime: A Stark Contrast to Germany and Italy

The Labour government in the UK has refused to release crucial statistics on the deportation of grooming gang members and the number of migrants involved in crimes such as rape. This lack of transparency raises serious concerns about the extent of criminal activity among migrants and the government’s unwillingness to address the issue openly.

In stark contrast, both Germany and Italy have made crime data publicly available, shedding light on the troubling patterns associated with migrant-related offences. Yesterday, this site published statistics from Italy that revealed that 41% of those accused of rape in this country are migrants. Similarly, data from Germany underscores the disproportionate involvement of foreign nationals in violent crime.

Despite comprising only 13% of Germany’s population, foreigners are significantly overrepresented among crime suspects:

A) Homicides: 42%

B) Rapes: 37%

C) Assaults: 32%

D) Burglaries: 39%

These figures indicate that specific nationalities and crime categories exhibit notable disparities in criminal activity. The German and Italian governments’ willingness to publish these statistics allows for informed public debate and policy discussions. In contrast, the Labour government’s reluctance to disclose similar data in the UK raises questions about accountability and transparency.

Even the Maltese government is reluctant to publish statistics on crimes committed by migrants. While it is understandable that such statistics involve complex and sensitive issues, it is also important to publish them. It should be remembered that high percentages in specific crime categories don’t necessarily imply causation. Various factors can influence these numbers, including economic disparities, social integration issues, and legal definitions. This is why such statistics need to be published. Overrepresentation in specific categories doesn’t inherently indicate a higher propensity for crime among migrants. However, when governments are not transparent on this issue and withhold particular data, this leads to speculation.

The suppression of crime statistics prevents the public from fully understanding the scope of the issue and hinders the development of effective strategies to combat crime. If other European nations can release this information, why does Labour insist on keeping it hidden? The British public deserves to know the truth.
