Brussels Protests: What the Media Got Wrong About the Motives

Silence, please. We have an important update from the “student protesters” in Brussels.
Asked what they are protesting about, one reportedly replies: “I don’t know.”
Asked for their message, the answer is: “Destroy everything!”
Meanwhile, footage appears to show people smashing a car and jumping on its roof in broad daylight in Brussels, home to the EU’s principal institutions.
What exactly does any of this achieve? And why should calling someone a “student” soften the description of their behaviour? Being a student does not make vandalism a legitimate form of protest.
But of course, let’s blame the far right. Who else could possibly be responsible?
