Garnishee Order Against Paola Mayor Following Council’s Appeal Against Local Development

A heated meeting of Paola Local Council today heard that Mayor Jason Silvio had been subjected to a garnishee order following an appeal lodged on behalf of the council against a development in the locality.

The case was presented during the meeting as a measure taken against the mayor for daring to challenge the development through the council.

Upon learning of the case, all councillors present walked out of the meeting in solidarity with Silvio. Both Labour and Nationalist councillors joined this show of support, setting aside party differences to stand with the mayor.

The incident raises a serious question: should a mayor face action against him personally for challenging a development on behalf of the council he represents?
