Polish MEP Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik delivered a blistering critique of EU President Ursula von der Leyen, calling her leadership a “big mistake” and condemning her Green Deal and Migration Pact as existential threats to Europe’s economy, security, and cultural identity.

In a powerful address in July at the European Parliament, Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik, a Polish representative affiliated with the conservative Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN) group, unleashed a scathing rebuke of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Zajączkowska-Hernik called von der Leyen’s initial appointment a “big mistake” and denounced her policies, especially the European Green Deal and the EU Migration Pact, as destructive to Europe’s economic stability and security.

Speaking on behalf of ESN, a coalition of European conservative parliamentarians who fight for national sovereignty over EU centralization, Zajączkowska-Hernik accused von der Leyen of using the Green Deal as a weapon against Europe’s economy and agriculture, transforming the continent into an “open-air economic museum” where Europeans are left poorer and industries are hobbled. “You are the face of the European Green Deal,” she stated emphatically, “and this Deal is doing nothing but tearing apart Europe’s economic stability while sacrificing our agricultural lifeblood.” Her words reflect a wider frustration within Europe, where the EU’s green policies are increasingly seen not as solutions but as ideological fantasies crippling vital industries and everyday citizens.

But Zajączkowska-Hernik didn’t stop there. Speaking to von der Leyen “mother to mother,” she delivered her strongest condemnation yet, blaming the EU Migration Pact for the wave of insecurity brought by illegal immigration and holding the Commission President personally accountable. “You are responsible for every rape, every assault, every tragedy caused by the influx of illegal immigrants,” she charged, tapping into the growing disillusionment across Europe with the EU’s open-border policies. This impassioned plea reflects the rising sentiment that these left-wing immigration policies endanger the fabric of European society and national security alike.

The timing of Zajączkowska-Hernik’s attack was no accident—it came just hours before the European Parliament took up the vote on whether von der Leyen would remain for another term. Zajączkowska-Hernik went further, calling for von der Leyen to resign immediately and declaring that she “should be in jail” for policies that have put the entire future of Europe at risk.
