The European Parliament plenary has endorsed the deal with member states to extend the legal framework of the EU Digital COVID Certificate for another 12 months
Marica Micallef
With 454 votes in favour, 112 against, 20 abstentions, MEPs supported the agreement negotiated on June 13 that intends to prevent limits on EU free movement in the case of novel variations or other pandemic-related dangers (third-country nationals). The current regulations, which were scheduled to end next week, will remain in effect until June 30, 2023.
The legislation specifies that member states shall not impose excessive or unfair restrictions on the free movement of EUDCC holders in response to the request made by the Parliament. By the end of 2022, the European Commission will evaluate how the EUDCC affects freedom of movement and fundamental rights. If the public health situation permits, the Commission may propose repealing the EUDCC based on the most recent scientific guidance from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Health Security Committee.
“The extension still needs to be formally adopted by the Council of the EU. It will then enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal of the EU.”
I would like to ask how our local MEPs who were trusted by the Maltese citizens, and elected to represent them in the EU, voted.

Maltese politicians are farcical people hell bent on mistreating the people…but they are aware that there is a majority of sheeple not people!
And MEPs are even worse! They are in it purely for the extremely high salaries and perks not to represent anyone!
