MALTA IS NOT BECOMING DIVERSE. IT IS BEING REPLACED.

Eurostat’s latest projections are not a curiosity. They are an indictment. The European Union as a whole is shrinking. Its population rises a fraction to 453.3 million by 2029, then slumps to 445 million by 2050 and 398.8 million by 2100. That is an 11.7 per cent collapse from 2025. Ageing. Fewer births. A continent contracting.
Malta is the grotesque exception. The same baseline scenario hands the islands a 26 per cent swell by 2100. Reporting of the figures puts the population near 724,000 by century’s end, after a bulge around 766,000 in 2075. Luxembourg is the only other EU state with a comparable percentage surge. Both stay small. The scandal is not size. It is who remains.
Eurostat does not hide the mechanism. Persistent net migration, not Maltese fertility, inflates the total. Natural change turns negative. Deaths overtake births. The extra heads are imported. That is not “diversity”. It is substitution.The maternity wards already advertise the takeover. In 2023 there were 4,462 live births. About 2,963 were to Maltese mothers. About 1,499 were to foreign mothers, that is, one child in three. In 2024 the total was 4,374. More than 1,500 involved non-Maltese parents. The native share is dying on the vine. The foreign share is climbing. The lines have not crossed. They are racing towards each other.
A Central Bank of Malta note is colder still. Maltese nationals numbered about 405,000 in 2023. Under baseline assumptions they slump towards 350,000 by 2050 and about 275,000 by 2075. The historic people shrink. The imported workforce balloons. Foreigners already near a third of working age. Towards 46 per cent by 2035. The island fills up. Malta itself thins out.
The economic model is a racket that feeds on itself. Foreign labour is sucked in to keep hotels, cranes and offices turning. Those workers need flats, hospital beds and classrooms. The flats, beds and classrooms then need still more staff. Another wave is shipped in. Each cohort manufactures the shortage that justifies the next. It is a demographic Ponzi scheme dressed up as growth. Object, and the liberal press screams racism. Arithmetic, apparently, is a hate crime.
By 2100 the choice is brutal. Either Malta throws open its general election boxes as soon as possible to Maltese citizens overseas and treats the diaspora as the political nation it still is. Or the tsunami already baked into the projections will swallow the islands lock, stock and barrel. Europe ages and contracts as one people. Malta ages in one people and expands in another. That is not enrichment. It is a quiet extinction with a GDP press release. Numbers do not care about feelings. They only record who is left.
