France’s Unrest: More Than a Minor Student Revolt

The Times of Malta has portrayed what is happening in France as a minor student revolt. In my view, its editor, Herman Grech, is downplaying the situation by describing a few smouldering bins and a few trams stopped by naughty pupils, as though there were nothing to worry about.

What is happening in France is far more serious. It is the result of the hard left’s actions. Imagine if these students and protesters belonged to the hard right: they would have been labelled Nazis or fascists. Yet here, it is the left that is protesting.

What worries me is that these protests are being linked to what is happening in Palestine. Such violent acts will not help the Palestinian cause. I believe they could make the Palestinians’ situation even worse by providing a pretext for the Israeli government’s heavy-handed actions.

Below are some videos and comments from politicians such as Marine Le Pen, the American Vice-President, JD Vance and Nigel Farage about the situation.

Even the mayor of Saint-Denis openly joined in the school riots!
