Exclusive: man originally named with raping the Italian teacher is an American soldier: why have the name and nationality of the accused been changed?

This site can reveal that the man initially mentioned in the alleged attempt to rape the Italian teacher, Lara Ali Shahin, at St. Paul’s Bay is an American soldier. At first, the media gave us his name. He was identified as Mark Wade Hopkins, a 50-year-old American national. Then, the press stopped mentioning his name.

A Google search reveals that Mark Wade Hopkins is a soldier attached to the Shaw Air Force Base in South California. His name was all over the media. But, then, the media stopped giving his name, and two particular media removed even the reports. I am here referring to Net TV and Newsbook. They deleted their original articles.

The twist came yesterday afternoon when the newspapers changed their version and said that the man accused of this rape was a 34 year Egyptian who works as a plasterer named Najah Agheez. Furthermore, the media stated that Agheez admitted having sexually assaulted the Italian lady.

Why has the media changed its version? The media was here reporting from the court. Why did all the Maltese press first state that the accused was an American, and then the reporting changed, and the name of the accused even changed and became an Egyptian plasterer? This change came after the name mentioned in the media turned out to be of an American soldier who forms part of Shaw Air Force Base in South California.

What is strange in this case is that at first, all the media was saying that the accused is an American by the name of Mark Wade Hopkins. Then, the version changed and it was stated that the accused is an Egyptian by the name of Najah Agheez. Why?

It is more than clear that the same America Embassy, who in the past was all out supporting women groups and praising them for denouncing what the staff of this American Embassy term as a Maltese patriarchal society, made a 180 degrees turn. The American Embassy told our media to downplay this rape story even if now, there is a change in version and the accused is no longer an American but an Egyptian man. Still, these women associations are not shouting out about this case. Why? They are still not putting this case into the limelight even if now the person who has “admitted” his guilt is no longer an American but an Egyptian plasterer! Unfortunately, this is when the American gender strategy goes haywire. The local American Embassy is falling victim to its past propaganda.
