Catholic Nursery School Teacher Dismissed Following OnlyFans Scandal

A Catholic nursery school teacher in Italy has been dismissed after it emerged she was running a racy OnlyFans page, allegedly damaging the school’s “relationship of trust” with parents and the community.
Elena Maraga, 29, was at the centre of controversy last month when a parent reportedly discovered her account on the subscription-based content platform. According to Italian outlet A2, the situation escalated after the father of one of her pupils allegedly purchased some of Maraga’s photos and then shared them with other parents in a football group chat. Maraga claims the scandal broke out after the man’s wife learned about the images.
The incident sparked outrage among some parents, leading to complaints directed at the management of the Catholic nursery school where Maraga was employed. The administration justified her dismissal by citing a breach of trust and concerns over the school’s reputation.
Maraga has defended herself, pointing out that her activities on OnlyFans were conducted privately, outside of her working hours, and should not impact her professional role as a teacher. “I have always carried out my duties responsibly and with dedication,” she said, arguing that what she does in her time should not be grounds for professional punishment.
The case has ignited a broader debate on social media about privacy, morality, and the standards expected of educators, particularly those working in faith-based institutions. Supporters of Maraga argue that the parent’s distribution of her content was a fundamental breach of privacy and respect. Critics, however, maintain that teachers, especially in Catholic schools, are held to a higher moral standard inside and outside the classroom. Others argued, perhaps inspired by Cicero’s work De Officiis, that one cannot separate his public life from his private life.
Currently, Maraga has not ruled out taking legal action against her former employer, insisting that her dismissal was unjust and discriminatory.
