U.S. Reaffirms Commitment to Malta During OSCE Ministerial Meeting
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his meeting with Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela during the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Ministerial meeting. Blinken’s message underscored the strength of U.S.-Malta relations and acknowledged Malta’s leadership roles on the global stage.
In his statement, Blinken praised Malta’s “principled leadership” as the Chair-in-Office of the OSCE for 2024 and highlighted the country’s significant contributions as an elected member of the United Nations Security Council. He reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the United States and Malta, emphasising America’s commitment to supporting Malta’s efforts in these critical international roles.
The meeting, which occurred in the context of the OSCE’s high-level gathering, reflects both countries’ shared commitment to advancing international security, diplomacy, and cooperation. Malta’s dual role at the OSCE and the UN Security Council positions it as a key player in addressing global challenges, including conflict resolution, security coordination, and multilateral governance.
Secretary Blinken’s acknowledgement further solidifies Malta’s standing on the international stage while reiterating the value of the long-standing bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Malta.
