Europe’s Last Gulf Jet Fuel Cargo Due on 9 April, Warns Corriere della Sera

A report in Corriere della Sera has raised alarm over Europe’s aviation fuel supply, stating that the last aircraft-kerosene shipment currently en route from the Persian Gulf is expected to arrive in Rotterdam on 9 April. The tanker, identified as the Rong Lin Wan, is described as the final jet-fuel cargo to have departed the Gulf for Europe before the present disruption in regional energy flows.

The report should not be misunderstood as meaning that Europe will physically run out of aviation fuel on that date. Rather, it signals that the current crisis has severely disrupted the normal flow of jet fuel from the Gulf, creating the risk of shortages in the weeks ahead if alternative supply lines are not secured. Existing reserves, European refining capacity, and emergency sourcing may cushion the immediate impact, but the warning is serious.

If the interruption continues, the consequences could be felt most sharply during the summer travel season, with airlines facing higher fuel costs, tighter supply, and the possibility of cancellations or reduced schedules. What Corriere is really pointing to is the beginning of a potentially much wider aviation supply crisis for Europe.
