Popeye’s Village is Listed Among the Most Beautiful Villages in the World
A website has listed Popeye’s Village as one of the most beautiful villages in the world. Following the current trend of compiling “top ten” lists, Popeye’s Village ranked in sixth place. At the top of the list was Frigiliana, Spain, followed by Bibury, England, and Hallstatt, Austria. These were followed by Gordes in France and Intragna in Switzerland, after which came Popeye’s Village in Malta.
The remaining four villages were Giethoorn in the Netherlands, Cong in Ireland, Alberobello in Italy, and Shirakawa-go in Japan. This list was published on the website JoinMyTrip.
Without entering into a discussion on the merits or the criteria used to compile this ranking, it is nevertheless significant that an atypical village represents Malta. Unlike the others, Popeye’s Village originated as a film set, yet it has gained recognition for its distinctive character, diversity, and charm, making it a destination worth visiting.
Unfortunately, part of the village was damaged by fire in the past. However, this type of classification once again highlights why Malta continues to attract attention: its rich diversity of cultural and heritage sites, ranging from ancient historical locations to unique and unconventional attractions such as Popeye’s Village.
