Cheese-Wheeling Wizard Somersaults into Internet Fame at Gloucestershire Event

A man who went viral for somersaulting down the treacherous Cooper’s Hill during this year’s world-famous Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling event appears to have escaped injury, despite the dramatic tumble that left spectators wincing.
Identified only as “Tye the Cheese Wizard,” the exuberant participant was spotted after the event walking away seemingly unscathed and later enjoying a pint at a local pub.
“He was dressed as a wizard and he said his name was Tye,” one attendee told the Daily Mail. “Apparently he was trying to break the record for the fastest descent.”
Tye’s unique approach, part acrobatics, part sheer abandon, caught the attention of thousands online as videos of his flips and rolls circulated rapidly. Witnesses said he was “super amped up” at the top of the hill, hyping up the crowd before launching himself downhill in pursuit of the 9lb Double Gloucester cheese wheel.
While several participants were reportedly taken to hospital with injuries, Tye was not among them. “I understand he was in the pub afterwards,” the same attendee added.
The annual event, held on the steep slopes of Cooper’s Hill near Brockworth, is known for its chaotic charm and inevitable bruises. Contestants hurl themselves downhill chasing a cheese wheel, often at the cost of scrapes, sprains, or worse. But for Tye the Cheese Wizard, the experience ended not with a stretcher but with a story, a cold drink, and a new title as the Internet’s latest cult hero.
Organisers have not confirmed whether Tye’s descent set a new record, but one thing is certain: the legend of the Cheese Wizard is already rolling.
