Paul Bonello Exposes Archbishop Scicluna’s London Trip with His Close Associate Steve Mallia

I am sharing a post by Paul Bonello, who previously hosted a programme on the Roman Catholic Church media but was unceremoniously removed. In this post, Bonello questions the moral credibility of Archbishop Charles Scicluna. In a Facebook post written in Maltese, which I translate here into English, he stated the following:

“As a member of the Maltese Catholic Church, may I ask what position or positions a certain Steve Mallia, former editor of the Times of Malta, occupies within the administration or the pastoral structures of the Maltese Church, given that he has had numerous meetings with Archbishop Scicluna and has travelled with him, including on a current visit to London?

Or is this none of my business?”

In response to this post, Anna Mallia, a lawyer, commented: “Don’t open a can of worms, Paul.”

Bonello replied:

“Anna Mallia, I raise questions about everything that concerns the public interest (not private matters), whether it involves the Church, the Government, or the opposition. Silence (omertà) has no place here.”

The irony is that when I raised questions about the relationship between the Church’s chief judicial officer, Joseph Bajada, and a Repubblika activist, Alessandra Dee Crespo, who incidentally works at the Curia and within the same tribunal as Bajada, the Curia issued statements attacking me and questioning both my qualifications as a historian and my academic credibility.

In light of Bonello’s revelations, will the Curia now issue a statement attacking Bonello’s financial credibility for speaking about the relationship between Archbishop Scicluna and his close associate Steve Mallia?

Thank God we are no longer living in the Middle Ages; otherwise, both Bonello and I would long ago have been burned at the stake as heretics.
