NET News endorses the story published by this site about Alex Agius Saliba without having the decency to mention the source
This site has published that Alex Agius Saliba and Daniel Attard were not allowed to address the Labour mass gathering organised last Sunday at the Rialto Bormla. This story ended up being covered by NET News. This media house usually accredits those media outlets that publish a story NET News takes up. This was not the case with this story because this story was published on this site. Crediting this site may go against the current narrative that this is not a credible site. However, this proves that this site publishes reliable stories. This is not the first time that Net News has not given credit to this site and praised other media outlets as being the first with the news when, in truth, the story first appeared on this site. Another case in point was the story of what had happened in the Labour Party executive. Net News credited Malta Today with this story when it was this site that first published the details of what went on at this political meeting.
This site also reported what a person at the Rialto had told it: Alex Agius Saliba was not even granted access to the Rialto Hall. When he arrived, he was informed that the hall was packed and he could not enter. Thus, Agius Saliba, the Labour MEP who garnered the most votes for the Labour Party, was excluded even to be present in the hall! When the Labour Euro parliamentarian Alex Agius Saliba tried to enter the Rialto hall, he was told that the hall was packed and there was no place for him. No doubt this was a bland excuse to hide away the MEP Alex Agius Saliba in the same manner as MEP Daniel Attard was hidden away. Attard was permitted to enter but was given a seat where he could not be seen. Following the Labour Party’s electoral defeat, Robert Abela is taking steps to ensure that individuals like Alex Agius Saliba are isolated. This is because men like Agius Saliba and Daniel Attard enjoy wide respect from the electorate and across the Labour Party structures. Abela sees them as a real threat to his leadership. In short, in Alex Agus Saliba, the Prime Minister is seeing the future leader of the Labour Party.
The prime minister said he would change, but his actions showed that he was just empty talk. When he spoke at the Rialto on Sunday, he lost a golden opportunity to show that he had learned his lesson. He intends to carry on with the same strategy: to put aside some and back others. If he continues to back the same individuals responsible for the electoral failure of June 8, then this does not augur well for the future of the Labour Party.

It has become common practice for the main newspapers to bilk this blog post without giving it credit. Take the Qala story concerning the bribing of a Nadur player. It was this website that broke the news that the Nadur football committee had deadlocked on whether to ask for a police investigation. The printing of such unacceptable complacency amongst the Nadur committee created enough embarrassment for the Nadur committee that they were compelled to act, finally. And report the incident to the police they did. Now we read in the main news media how specific players will be hauled into criminal court. Were it not for this website, the rampant corruption in Gozitan football would still go on unabated.
Mr. Mercieca. Re-the ‘electoral failure’ of June 8. Many that contested suffered an electoral failure, some a bigger one than others. As the results stands, Labor won both elections, one with 20,000 votes and the other with 8500 votes.
Mr. Stivala, Labour was invincible before the June elections. Now we are not so sure. Yes, Labour won and PN lost. But is it really a persuasive win when you plot it on a time scale to include the next general election? PN are within striking distance without having done anything of substance. Complacency is not the winner’s friend.
”PN are withen striking distance” This with a majority in 40 localities against a majority in 24 localities and with a voting difference of 20,163 which translates into an absolute majority of more than 52%. Maybe my problem is that I do not see things like horses do.
