Bernard Grech insults the son of the Nationalist Deputy Robert Cutajar for being one of the journalists bribed by the current Government.

Last Sunday, the Prime Minister was at Marsaxlokk for a political rally. While there, Robert Abela was interviewed by a journalist who happens to be the son of Robert Cutajar, whose father is a deputy and Nationalist Whip of the Nationalist group.

The day after the interview was aired, Bernard Grech called people to turn up in front of Parliament the next day to protest against the Government for stealing social benefits. During this protest. Bernard Grech also referred to the interview given by Robert Abela to Robert Cutajar’s son. Grech started shouting and stating that Robert Abela buys ”safe” interviews. In brief, he implied that Robert Cutarjar is a “safe” journalist of Robert Abela’s Government.

It cannot be said that Bernard Grech was not aware of who interviewed the Prime Minister because, until recently, the journalist worked for NET. Therefore, the opposition leader cannot say that he did not know this journalist was the son of the Nationalist Parliamentary Group’s whip.

The joke is that, when Bernard Grech stated that this Government buys ”safe” interviews, he had Robert Cutajar standing behind him! I can just visualize Robert Cutajar clapping heartily when he heard Bernard Grechdeclare that the latter’s son was one of the “safe” journalists of this Government and exploded, yelling that this a corrupt government!

In other words, the father of the journalist who carried out the “safe” interview with the Prime Minister was behind Bernard Grech protesting against the Government because of the social benefits scandal and because the Prime Minister had a “safe” journalist who questioned him about this scandal. Indeed, they have no shame left!

Yet the Institute of Maltese Journalists has nothing to say, not even a press release to condemn this behaviour. It remains totally silent.

And then, one is surprised that the Maltese population no longer trusts its politicians!
