I am very curious what is the solution for Malta’s new economic model. A country (city sized)without NO resources. Debt to gdp is better than it was in 2012 with this model and it is a fact. I agree we need to go for quality and we should try but it is not easy. Even countries like Germany find it difficult to keep quality, apart the huge competition to attract investment from other jurisdictions. A good opportunity for Malta to go for quality was to the keep the old Maltese Lira and use it as a investment/resource. But on the other hand the Maltese decided to immerse in the ECB (EU) and for a country size of a city such as Malta the model of Singapore style seemed to be the most feasible one. N.B I do not agree when Malta’s population is compared with other countries, Malta should be compared with other cities such as Paris, London, Munich etc before we press the panic button. For sure we must organize ourselves. Till today I never heard anyone coming with policies and set of action regarding Malta’s “new economy”. Honestly it will never happen,” since things are changing fast.
