What are the perils of 5G that Minister Silvio Schembri is too busy to tell you? – part two
By Marica Micallef
In the first part, we have seen how 5G emits a certain type of radiation. When the health effects of radiation were studied in some animal or lab-based cell studies, the results were negative, so much so that they led the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) to classify electromagnetic radiation as ‘possibly carcinogenic to humans.’
More than 500 studies, have found harmful biological or health effects from exposure to RFR (non-ionizing radiation) at intensities too low to cause significant heating. More than 240 scientists who have published peer-reviewed studies on the biological and health effects of nonionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF) and who have signed the International EMF Scientist Appeal, which calls for stricter exposure limits, made the following appeal in this claim:
“Numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines. Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans. Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plant and animal life.”
The majority of experts who have studied the effects of nonionizing radiation are the same scientists who signed this appeal. More than 2,000 papers and letters on EMF have been published by them in academic journals.
In 2018, “a $30 million study conducted by the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) found “clear evidence” that two years of exposure to cell phone RFR increased cancer in male rats and damaged DNA in rats and mice of both sexes. The Ramazzini Institute in Italy replicated the key finding of the NTP using a different carrier frequency and much weaker exposure to cell phone radiation over the life of the rats.”
“The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) also notes that in the 1990s, some research found a possible link between EMF field strength and an increased risk of childhood leukemia, but the association was weak. Now, though, the organization notes, “in the age of cellular telephones, wireless routers, and the Internet of things, all of which use EMF, concerns persist about possible connections between EMF and adverse health effects. NIEHS acknowledges additional research is needed and recommends continued education on practical ways to reduce exposures to EMFs.””
To add insult to injury, many of the government-approved rules on RF (radio frequency) were established in the late 1990s and based on limited research. Thus, no government has any updated rules on RF. So, governments have obeyed to implement 5G on their civilians with outdated approved rules.
To add more insults to more injuries, for the first time the radiation that 5G emits will use millimeter waves in addition to microwaves, which have been used for earlier cellular technologies, 2G through 4G. In addition, due to its short range, 5G will need cell antennas every 100 to 200 meters, which will subject many people to millimeter wave radiation. New technologies used in 5G, such as active antennas with beamforming capabilities, phased arrays, and massive MIMO, present special difficulties for measuring exposures. There has also been little research about the health effects of millimeter waves.
The majority of millimeter waves are absorbed in the top layers of the cornea and within a few millimeters of human skin. The cardiovascular system, immune system, and peripheral nervous system may all suffer negative physiological effects from short-term exposure. According to the research, prolonged exposure may cause health problems for the testicles (such as sterility), eyes (such as ocular melanoma), and skin (such as melanoma).
We are thus truly “flying blind”, as a U.S. senator had stated when talking about 5G and its little known health effects.
However, there is a ton of evidence supporting the negative effects of 2G and 3G. Because governments have been negligent in funding this research, little is known about the effects of being exposed to 4G, a technology that has been around for ten years. Let alone 5G! In the meantime, tumor registries are showing an increase in some head and neck tumor types, which may be at least partially attributed to the widespread use of cell phone radiation. The results of case-control studies on the risk of tumors in heavy cell phone users are consistent with these increases.
Anthony B. Miller, M.D., professor emeritus at the Dalla Luna School of Public Health of the University of Toronto, in a 2020 statement from the Physicians Health Initiative for Radiation and Environment and the British Society for Ecological Medicine stated: “Action must be taken now to reduce human exposure to nonionizing radiation to as low as can be achievable, including a moratorium on the introduction of 5G.”
And yet, thanks to Silvio Schembri, we have been turned into lab rats while we are expected to live happily ever after in the highly concentrated 5G happy land.
