An appeal court in the USA confirmed that one of Bayer’s products, Roundup, causes cancer because it uses glysophate.

The German company Bayer has been found guilty of causing cancer through the use of glysophate-based weed killer

On June 21st, Reuters and other international media reported that the U.S. Supreme Court had rejected Bayer’s bid to nix Roundup weedkiller suits.[1]

“The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected Bayer AG’s bid to dismiss legal claims by customers who contend its Roundup weedkiller causes cancer as the German company seeks to avoid potentially billions of dollars in damages.”

The justices rejected a Bayer appeal and maintained a lower court ruling that awarded California resident Edwin Hardeman $25 million in damages. Mr Hardeman was a Roundup user who claimed that the company’s glyphosate-based weedkillers (Roundup) were to blame for his cancer.

Bayer suffered a setback due to this Supreme Court’s decision as it attempts to reduce its legal liability in thousands of cases. The justices may take action in the upcoming weeks on a second Bayer petition that is pending on a related matter.

The news also reported that Bayer’s shares fell 2.9 percent, wiping off gains from the previous two trading days.

So now we have a legal decision that proves that these glyphosate-based weedkillers, which are sprayed on wheat and other crops, are causing cancer to people.
