Yesterday, there was the compilation of evidence against the Degiorgio Brothers. Vince Muscat, known as il-Koħħu was cross-examined by the defence. This time round, Vince Muscat affirms in court that it was in 2014, that the first to plan to kill Daphne Caruana Galizia was hatched. This is a piece of news. One needs to remember that this first plan has already surfaced in court but this time round there is a new detail. The year when this was planned was given as 2014. In one of the previous sessions, it was stated that the first plan to murder Daphne Caruana Galizia was in 2015. Yesterday, the first plan to kill Daphne Caruana Galizia was moved a year backward.
Whichever year one takes, neither 17Black nor Electrogas was in the news in 2014 or 2015. Nor was Daphne Caruana Galizia writing about them in her blogs. Therefore, yesterday’s compilation of evidence continues to confirm that the Electrogas was not the motive of this murder. Therefore what is the motive? For the police or the investigators to arrive at the correct motive of this murder, they must find a common denominator that links these two or possibly three dates together. In other words, what is there in common in the life of Daphne Caruana Galizia and her investigative journalism which is common in all these years: 2014, 2015 and 2017?
Vince Muscat also reaffirmed yesterday that it was only on that particular night, that is the one between Sunday and Monday that the car of Daphne Caruana Galizia was left out of the compound. Till now, the family has not given a good explanation why they left it outside on that particular night. What we have are contradicting statements by Matthew Caruana Galizia. The latter is on record to have stated to the Italian journalist Bonini that he had left the car out because he was too lazy to put it in the compound. But why was he too lazy on that Sunday evening? It was not late when he returned home. Matthew Caruana Galizia himself admitted that it was around sunset. Judging from Muscat’s testimony, even when members of the family returned late at night or early in the morning, they always found time to put the car into the compound. Why didn’t any members of the family, on that Sunday evening, when it was nearly dusk, have any interest to park in the compound of their villa?
