Nicky Azzopardi, David Casa’s voiceless loudspeaker

I am attaching a comment uploaded by Nicky Azzopardi who is politically linked to David Casa. Here, I will not be asking Nicky Azzopardi about Casa’s cocaine parties in Brussels and Malta.

Nicky Azzopardi is upset that Daphne Caruana Galizia’s family has been asked to present her income tax returns. It is public knowledge that Daphne Caruana Galizia had an issue with the Inland Revenue Department. On the other hand, Daphne Caruana Galizia’s family advocate, Therese Comodini Cachia has asked for the income tax returns of a number of persons to be discussed during the inquiry but she did not ask for DCG’s tax returns. It is not necessary to remind Azzopardi that DCG’s family are requesting financial compensation from the alleged killers on the grounds of loss of revenue for the family.

Meanwhile, Nicky Azzopardi distorted my article by stating that I am asking Daphne Caruana Galizia to hand in her income tax return when she has been dead for the past three years! I have never asked Daphne Caruana Galizia for her tax return. However, I did ask her family to produce her tax return which is a completely different story. It seems that Nicky Azzoapardi does not know how to read either Maltese or English and wants to distort facts.

My question to Azzopardi is the following. Why are all those supporting the Daphne Caruana Galizia’s case afraid that her income tax return is made public? Sooner or later it will have to become public in order to establish her actual earnings. Could it be that what she declared does not relate to the exorbitant claim presented by the family and therefore she was defrauding the Income tax department?  

Whichever the case, honest and abiding citizens should not be afraid to have their income tax published. I, for one, as a university lecturer, have no problem that my income tax is published. I have nothing to hide. Only those who have something to hide have problems to reveal their income tax return. Once again, I challenge her family to publish Daphne Caruana Galizia’s income tax returns. One needs to remember that Daphne Caruana Galizia is being presented as the beacon of honesty and rectitude.

I wish to remind Nicky Azzopardi that his tactics are similar to those adopted in Albania by Enver Hoxha and his like, in order to silence critics including academics. Like Hoxha, Azzopardi  distorts facts in the hope of achieving his own ends.  My concern now is that the Nationalist Party is being run by individuals  of the ilk of Azzopardi, whose inspiration comes from the worst type of Communist regimes that came about in Europe after the Second World War. After distorting what I wrote, Nicky Azzopardi questions my academic credentials. To conclude and I am sick of having to repeat myself. Nicky Azzopardi should know that my degrees were obtained from the Universities of Malta, Rome and Paris (Sorbonne). Definitely, my ancestors and relatives – me included – have never obtained a degree from any university inspired by Hoxha’s policies to silence critics and coerce people.
