Different versions about the Intravenous vitamin C

In the legal letter which I presented to the medical staff at Mater Dei, on Tuesday 27th October 2020, I insisted, among other requests, for change of treatment. Since my dad was sedated and not in a position to speak up for himself, I did it for him. Besides, I knew, deep down in my heart, that dad was not dead sick when he entered hospital and being told, after a week, that he is dying, was news I did not buy.
So, I kindly asked to the medical staff for the administration of Intravenous Vitamin C (IVC) together with Vitamin D and Zinc. This is because in an article by Profs Richard Cheng (MD, PhD), dated March 18, 2020, the importance of the administration of this vitamin in Covid-19 patients was highlighted. [1]
Its usage was decided after a group of medical staff met online with Dr. Mao, chief of emergency medicine department at Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai who had been using high-dose IVC to treat acute pancreatitis, sepsis, surgical wounds and other conditions for years. Once IVC was administered to Covid-19 patients, those patients had a shorter hospital stay than the overall patients and there was no mortality! All patients recovered. The doses recommended were: 10,000mg for moderate cases and 20,000 for more severe cases, which were determined by pulmonary status and coagulation (blood clotting) status. In my first visit at Mater Dei, when dad was still in ITU 6, I asked one of the nurses “Is dad being given IVC, please?” The answer was “We are not ALLOWED to use it”.
When I asked the same question to the medical staff during the meeting a week later, the first reply was “We don’t have it at hospital” to “We checked about vitamin C. We have it but we don’t use it as it is not in pure form”. Four different versions, which raise eyebrows!
Up till this date, I do not know if Mater Dei has Intravenous Vitamin C . I know that later, when dad was in ITU 1, he was given a concoction of vitamins since there was a bag hung behind his bed. If dad was given this concoction of vitamins later, then why was I told, during the meeting, that there is no medical and scientific back up that IVC and vitamins work? There is scientific research backing vitamins up and we all know, how beneficial vitamins are, especially when it comes to prevention![2]
I was also amazed to hear that a farmer in New Zealand, who was intubated and on the brink of death, was cured when his family legally asked hospital to administer IVC to their relative or else the hospital will be sued. [3]
Us as relatives felt that there is no harm in trying. Vitamin C would have helped my dad’s immune system to strengthen, making his body better able to fight his lung infection and since THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC BACKGROUND ABOUT COVID-19 PER SE, I firmly state that the medical professional’s argument during that meeting was immediately null in this regard.
To add insult to injury, when dad was shifted to ITU 1, we kept on insisting on the administration of vitamins to dad and we ended up buying Vitamin D in liquid form ourselves so that it can be administered to dad sublingually, since he could not swallow yet. When a hospital lacks vitamins, there is a serious problem. When a doctor tells you that vitamins do not work, it is a greater problem.
Up to this day, I do not regret any action taken. After all, I was trying to save my beloved dad. He is alive thanks to my perseverance. Otherwise, he would be history by now. This is, and will remain, the greatest achievement of my life.
